Dr. Clara Beltrán de Yturriaga earned her degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1990. She subsequently completed her doctoral coursework at the Chair of Otolaryngology in the Faculty of Medicine at the same university, graduating with honors.

Dr. Beltrán completed her specialization in Otolaryngology at the Hospital de la Princesa in Madrid, affiliated with the Autonomous University of Madrid, a position she secured through Spain’s national MIR selection exam. She represents the third generation of otolaryngologists in her family. Expertise in Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine
Dr. Beltrán completed her academic training in underwater medicine through the Master’s in Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine at the University of Barcelona, directed by Dr. Jordi Desola. She also earned the official certification as a Medical Examiner for Divers in the 2007-2008 academic year. An active diver since 1988, she holds the PADI Divemaster certification.
Advanced Studies and Leadership Roles
She holds a Master’s in Clinical Management and Medical Direction from CEU Cardenal Herrera University (2018-2019) and is a certified expert in health service management, medical leadership, and quality management. Additionally, in 2018-2019, she earned a Master’s in Forensic and Judicial Medicine and Damage Assessment from the same university.

Dr. Beltrán practices privately as a specialist in Otolaryngology and Underwater Medicine at Altiorem Medical Center (formerly Clínica Beltrán), where she serves as Medical Director and Manager.
She also heads the ENT Department at ASEPEYO, a workplace accident and occupational disease mutual insurer in Madrid, and was Chief of the ENT Service at Virgen del Mar Hospital from 2019 to 2024.
Academic and Professional Contributions
Dr. Beltrán has taught at the Department of Surgery at Hospital de la Princesa, affiliated with the Autonomous University of Madrid. Since 2005, she has collaborated with the Madrid Community’s Occupational Medicine Training Unit, and since 2010, she has been a regular lecturer on Diving ENT Pathology in master’s programs at the Universities of Barcelona and Catania.

She is a member of the Madrid Medical Association (ICOMEM, no. 282843801), SEORL, AMORL, OtoSub Study Group, and the European Underwater and Baromedical Society (EUBS). She served as Treasurer of the Spanish Association of Hyperbaric and Underwater Medicine (ASEMHS) from 2019 to 2024 and was President of the National Institute of Hyperbaric Medicine (INMH) from 2016 to 2022.
